Experts advise parents to be always vigilant when their babies and toddlers are around. Children can be tough to handle, especially since they are always curious about anything and everything. Whatever their parents do, their little ones tend to copy or imitate them. These habits and activities are often carried until the child grows up.
To monitor and watch over their daughter, husband and wife Caleb and Kathryn Whitt from Seneca, South Carolina, installed a baby monitor in her room. Little do they know that their daughter’s secret will be revealed with this camera.
The couple was rushing to get their daughter, Sutton, to bed on a Sunday night, resulting in skipping their ritual of bedtime prayers. Like other Carolinians on a Sunday night, they would want to cheer on the Panthers in the NFC championship game and did not want to miss the end of it.
While watching, they started to hear noises upstairs. Kathryn, who is working as a preschool teacher as well, pulled up the baby monitor on her cell phone and hit record. The next thing surprised her and her husband: to their surprise, the 2-year-old Sutton was reciting her prayer all by herself.
Taking Her Sweet Time
The toddler usually rushes through her prayers at bedtime and takes only about 20 seconds to recite everything. However, this night is different.
In the video, she thoughtfully and carefully calls out the names of the people she is praying for and say thanks many times. She mentioned everyone starting from her grandmothers, to her parents, and even Santa Claus.Although Kathryn was able to capture just the last portion of the toddler’s two-minute prayer, it still warmed the hearts of many people.
I was just shocked at her age that she wanted to think through everyone she wanted to pray for.
She finished her prayer by mentioning her parents again before ending it with a big “Amen.”
Debating Over the Video
At the beginning, Kathryn was still debating whether she should post the video or not. However, she was overwhelmed by the positive responses from people. The video, which was first meant for family and friends, were already shared more than 45,000 times.
Almost immediately people from all over were sending us messages saying that this touched their hearts.

Sutton joined her mother in her work this week and while people were asking for her photographs, she already knows she is part of something big, but she doesn’t really know exactly what.
