Saudi Nurses Fired for Video Showing Them Squishing a Newborn’s Face for Laughs

A group of nurses in Saudi Arabia got some laughs from squishing a newborn’s face. But after taking a video of them using the infant for laughs, someone posted it on social media where it gained mixed reactions from the viewers.

The video that has since been taken by the original poster but copies had been made by other YouTubers.

The clip shows one of the nurses using her hands to play with the newborn baby’s face, squishing and smashing the baby’s pliable muscles so that it made grumpy faces that the nurses found hilarious.

Unfortunately for these nurses, the baby’s father happened to see the video after it went viral on social media sites. The furious dad stormed to the hospital to demand an investigation.

The names of the baby, the parents, and even the nurses have been withheld but the hospital officials have dealt with the matter accordingly.

While the nurses were not named, officials confirmed that they work for a maternity hospital in Taif, Saudi Arabia. All of them had been terminated from their job, with officials saying their nursing licenses will also be withdrawn.

Squishing Newborn Face

Abdulhadi al-Rabie, a Health Affairs spokesman, said, “The Health Affairs investigated the source of the video and was able to identify the nurses who appeared in the video and the hospital where the incident took place. The nurses were immediately suspended by the order of Director of Taif Health Affairs Saleh Al-Muanis.

But it appears that the father was not satisfied with the hospital’s termination of the nurses and the subsequent removal of their licenses.

Reports confirmed that he’s planning to file a case for Saudi authorities to take appropriate action, not just for the nurses’ act of squishing the newborn’s face but for also posting the video on social media which is against the law in the country.
